# Plan and launch a dot (/docs/products/dash-dots/launching-a-dot)

You plan the dot and its listing. Your developers build and release it. Tick off each step as you go.

1. **Plan the experience**

Write down the one job your dot does and the screens it takes. For a meter top-up: pick the meter, enter an amount, pay, see the token. Note any page worth [sharing on its own](/docs/products/dash-dots/how-customers-find-dots#share-links). Need ideas? See [Ideas and use cases](/docs/products/dash-dots/use-cases).

2. **Prepare your listing**

Choose a name, a subtitle and a description. With your developers, agree your dot's [package name](/docs/products/dash-dots/listing-and-review#your-listing). It can't change later. For the icon and categories, see [Listing and review](/docs/products/dash-dots/listing-and-review).

3. **Get your server ready**

Your dot talks to your server. [Trust and privacy](/docs/products/dash-dots/trust-and-privacy#whats-up-to-you) lists what must stay there.

4. **Decide what to ask customers for**

Pick the permissions your dot needs from [What your dot can ask for](/docs/products/dash-dots/trust-and-privacy#what-your-dot-can-ask-for). For each one, write the reason Dash will show customers, like "Pick who to send airtime to".

5. **Add your developers to your Space**

Each developer signs up for their own Monime login, and you add them to the Space that [owns your dot](/docs/products/dash-dots#how-it-works).

6. **Build and test**

Your developers start with the [quickstart](/docs/products/dash-dots/developers/quickstart). Meanwhile, pick a few [testers](/docs/products/dash-dots/listing-and-review#testers-come-first) and give your developers their DashTags.

7. **Release it**

When a version is ready, your developers publish it. Once it [passes review](/docs/products/dash-dots/listing-and-review#how-a-version-goes-live) and your testers are happy, your developers release it to everyone.

## Updating your dot

Customers get each new version without updating Dash. If a version breaks, your developers can roll back to an earlier one. In an emergency they can switch the dot off. Within a minute, Dash stops opening it and taking payments through it.
