Versions

Check whether the person's Dash has a call, and how Dash API versions work.

The Dash API has a version, and this reference describes version 1.0. A newer minor version, such as 1.1, only adds: new calls, new options and new fields in results. Nothing in 1.0 is removed or renamed within version 1.

dash.minApiVersion in dot.json is the oldest version your dot needs, 1.0 unless you set it. Dash opens a dot only when it offers that version or a newer one. When a later version adds a call you want, and you still want older Dash to open your dot, check for the call first. supports takes the call's name without dash.. Say a later version added dash.media.scanBarcode:

TypeScript
if (this.dash.supports('media.scanBarcode')) {
  // Only a Dash that has the call runs this.
}

Every call in this reference is in version 1.0.

dash.supports

TypeScript
dash.supports(feature: DashFeature): boolean

Whether this Dash has feature: a call, such as 'contacts.pickPhone', or a field added to a call later.
